Google Pixel 10a review: Small changes, but still great value
To achieve testability in modular software we need to leverage the Dependency Inversion Principle (DIP) up to the level of application architecture. That was the reasoning behind introducing the concept of Infrastructure-Modules. When we extract all the infrastructure code from Business-Modules, they can stay focused on the business logic and have no design/compile-time dependencies on any untestable infrastructure code. As a side effect, we achieve Separation of Concerns.

This isn't an argument against platforms like Vapi or ElevenLabs. Those systems offer far more than orchestration: APIs, observability, reliability, and deep config options that would take real effort to reproduce. For most teams, rebuilding all of that would be a mistake - being able to test and validate a voice agent app without getting to this level of technical depth is truly amazing, and that's how I first got excited about the technology.
